Long-term Assignment:
Advanced Placement European History Term Paper – Spring 2016
Important event in European history (no “American History” will be accepted) . Pick an event that occurred after the year 1815 CE and describe how that event changed history. It must be an event that changed the history in a social, economic, political, innovative, scientific, or cultural way.
This paper is NOT simply a describe-the-event assignment. The main purpose of this paper is to describe how the event you chose changed economics, society, or politics of the time. Do not dedicate more than two pagers describing the event. Explain what and how the event changed European history.
NOTE: Plagiarism is a serious offense and will be dealt with severely.
- Length: 7 pages (7 to 8 pages – no more, no less (yes, I will measure)) - Double Spaced
- Must have a bibliography - does NOT count toward the length requirement
- For this assignment, footnotes/endnotes will NOT be required).
- Font: 12 New Times Roman
- Margins: Top=1”, Bottom = .5”, Left and right = 1” (yes, I will measure)
- NO blank lines between paragraphs (you can set this up in preference settings)
- No section titles
- Cover page must be in approved format - does NOT count towards the length requirement
- Outside Sources: At least three:
- Web resources may be used
- Web sites must end in .EDU or .GOV (minimum of two from EDU or GOV)
- YOU MAY NOT site Wikipedia
- Websites ending in ORG or COM MUST BE PRE-APPROVED in writing.!! This may be done via email.
- The textbook may NOT be used as a source and/or may NOT be quoted or referenced in the paper.

- March 1, 2016 (25 points): Preliminary topic submission.
- April 1, 2016 (25 points): Final topic submission – you may NOT change the topic of your paper after this date!!!
- May 16, 2016 (300 points): Final version of paper. – at the beginning of class.
